Our Custom Kitchen at 2012 Santa Barbara Design House

The 2012 Santa Barbara Design House and Gardens Showhouse are ready for the Grand Opening!  Featured this month in California Homes magazine and Traditional Home magazine, Showcase Kitchens and Baths has had the pleasure of designing the Kitchen, Wine Room, and Great Room using Wood Mode and Brookhaven cabinetry.   Joanie Franz, wife of actor Dennis Franz, is the driving force that has brought together top designers and suppliers to develop this Montecito property into a spectacular retreat.  The 6,000 square foot main house, with six bedrooms and six and a half baths, is complimented with a two bedroom poolside cabana, outdoor pavilion, and more.  Joanie called on Charlie Rutledge, Certified Kitchen Designer with Showcase Kitchens and Baths, to help her create a Kitchen and Great Room with a “Formal Country” look and feel.   Using timeless “Heirloom” finishes of distressed white painted cabinets on the perimeter and black on the island centerpiece, sets the contrasting color palette.    The look is completed by featuring large, detailed crown moldings, grand wood range hood, stacked door cabinets with plenty of glass and mullion doors, plate rack with open display shelf cabinets, and stout posts to frame the island and range.

GE provided Monogram appliances throughout the Kitchen, Wine Room, and Great Room Hutch.  Blending them into the Formal Country look, the refrigerator, freezer, wine captain, crisper drawers, under counter beverage center, and dishwashers all include cabinet panels.  The backsplash design features painted wood bead board, with brick set AKDO Mosaic Calacatta marble tile and Waterstone’s Traditional pot filler.  The island’s “Black with Expresso Glaze” finish is complimented with “Italian Calcutta” slab marble, and the “Nordic White with Heirloom” finished perimeter cabinets are topped with “Crema” slab marble from Stone West.  Country Industrial Pendants by Circa Lighting hang boldly over the island, drawing the eye to the ceiling beams with detailed crown molding.  Two full-size Kohler sinks add to the function of this gourmet Kitchen, one farmhouse style and one undermounted, each complemented with elegant faucets by Waterstone.  The white oak wood floor was given a warm brown finish, and provides a continuous flow as it runs through the entire Kitchen and Greatroom.
